Forest wedding in Sopot, Poland ~ Kaya & Simon ~ Destination Wedding Photography
There is a special joy reserved for photographing the wedding of a friend. Of course it comes with complications - how to wear a cute dress that you can still move in, how to hold the camera steady when the tears are flowing and when to put the camera down at the end of the night! Even I was unsure what the bride was going to be wearing having been present to two of the previous gown purchases... but she absolutely stunned everyone with her pure gorgeousness with her final selection.
This was a special wedding for it's uniqueness. With the ceremony in a forest on the edge of Sopot, Kaya's mother's home town, it was cool even in the heat wave Poland was experiencing. Kaya's two little girls walked her down the aisle to Here Comes the Sun and great whoops and cheers from the guests - and then they brought everyone to tears with their speeches.
The wild boar was announced into the dining room by a hunter with his trumpet and we feasted on traditional Polish foods - all of which were delicious, and washed down with much vodka. They had kept the fact that the hotel had a night club down stairs until the last minute so the party took on a whole new energy. I think I got to bed sometime around 3.... and was very glad I only had to stumble upstairs.
Kaya brought together friends and family to make the wedding happen including her cousin on the ground in Sopot and her uncle who married them in addition ....
